Our eight-week lesson program, run by Graham Rusher and Anne Russell, has two intakes each year. After completing the lessons, pupils advance to supervised sessions. Therese Tully contributes significantly to developing new players, offering expert advice every Wednesday, drawing on her national and international experience.

Each year, Therese Tully organises a gathering for all members who have participated in supervised sessions throughout the year, including both players and teachers. The event provides an opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves and enhance their mutual acquaintance. The evening was enjoyable for all attendees, and sincere appreciation was extended to Therese, Graham, Anne, Lisa, and the entire support team for their dedication to teaching and supervision in 2024.

The race that stops the nation also brought KBC to a standstill. With a full house buzzing with excitement and incredible entertainment, everyone enjoyed a fabulous time, including a lively game of bridge. It was an unforgettable day filled with laughter and camaraderie!

KBC like a good celebration and what better time to celebrate than Christmas.  2023 had an additional element as we introduced our Awards presentation to capture the achievements of members over the year that was 2023.

The KBC Christmas Party is an annual event not to be missed. This year, Kathryn Kelly was once again responsible for organizing the party. Although Kathryn was unable to attend, she delegated the responsibilities to Jenny Coyle and Leanne Nugent, who executed the detailed plans efficiently, resulting in a highly successful event.

The party was attended by over seventy members and their partners, with special guests Kim and Ray Ellaway also in attendance. Kim, who serves as the secretary of the QBA, addressed the audience to acknowledge and thank KBC for their continued support of the Gold Coast Congress over the years.

The event featured numerous door prizes, awards presentations, and an abundant supply of food, ensuring that our members had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

After five long years KBC eventually moved out of 98 Brookfield Rd, Kenmore Hills and into our temporary home at 139 Brookfield Rd, Kenmore Hills. Although the journey to achieve our redevelopment goals was long the move up the road was only five hundred metres.

KBC Congress is always popular and this year it proved to be a success on many counts, with both days at capacity.  Facilities at Toowong club were excellent and very much appreciated. Several KBC rookie Pairs managed to go “up the ladder” to finish well in C Grade. This is testament to the KBC’s Beginner Classes and the Supervised Play programs.
