Redevelopment and new home

Moving out of our club rooms seemed a long way off, with endless negotiations taking place with the council and little to show for it. The commitment of the committee has always been to achieve the best possible outcome for our members, and with the final drawings now signed off and agreed to, we believe that we have achieved our goal.

The Redeveloped Club

The redeveloped club will see all the internal walls being removed, which will open the playing floor to one large room. This will permit up to fourteen tables without compromising on movement and wheelchair access. The new layout will provide a more inclusive and spacious environment for all our players.

Toilet

Toilet facilities will be moved to the new building to be constructed, replacing the current demountable. This new building will be positioned with external access and weatherproof covering to link both buildings. This upgrade will ensure the facilities are more convenient and accessible.

Improved External Facilities

The redevelopment will also provide for improved external facilities. The concrete ground will be leveled to provide easy access from both sides, and a new patio insulated roof will be installed at increased height. The external perimeters will have café blinds installed to be utilized when the weather is not suitable. These enhancements will create a more comfortable and functional outdoor space for our members.

Parking Limitations

All in all, the refurbished clubhouse will fulfill many wishes; however, there is one area which will not improve - parking. Parking has always been an issue and will remain so, as there is no provision to extend parking outside the current footprint. The budget will not allow for this expansion. We acknowledge this limitation and appreciate our members' understanding and cooperation.

Relocation to the Friary

We now turn our heads to moving across to the Friary. One major bonus is plentiful parking, and there is provision for three disabled parking spots. Other benefits will include one large playing room, which will hold ten tables comfortably, and an extremely large kitchen and internal breakout area where we can extend play, not to mention ample storage space.

We have signed a two-year lease with Uniting Care, which will provide options further down the track should we feel the need. This relocation is a significant step forward, and we are confident it will bring numerous benefits to our members.

We look forward to embarking on this new chapter and continuing to serve our members with better facilities.

The redevelopment and relocation project is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible environment for our members. We appreciate your patience and support throughout this journey and are excited about the future of our club.
